Verifying a domain

A domain must first be verified for it to be used for login names or email addresses, for example. Verification is used to ensure that you are the owner of this domain or have administration rights for it.

For verification, you have to create an A record with a specific name in the DNS record management of your domain, and this is then checked. If you yourself do not have direct access to the DNS record management of your domain, you will need to contact your domain provider directly. You can find the value to be entered and the destination IP address in the detailed view of the domain concerned under “Verification value” and “Destination IP address”. The A record must indicate IP 94.100.242.113.

After you have made the entries or your provider has confirmed the entry of the values, which can take several days depending on the provider, click on the “Verify domain” button in the domain details of the domain in question and acknowledge the subsequent confirmation prompt with “OK”.

Once this A record has been successfully verified, the domain is marked as “verified” in the domain overview and you can use the domain for the platform products.

Caution! If you want to use this domain for the Microsoft® Exchange product, you will have to change the MX record (or have it changed) in order to be able to receive emails. However, if you only want to send emails, you can also use simply verified domains (without the “MX-record verified” property).
