The so-called MX (mail exchange) record is an entry in the domain-name system (DNS) that determines on the Internet which server is responsible for the SMTP or email traffic of this domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to use your own domain (e.g. yourdomain.com), which you have registered with an external provider (e.g. 1 &amp; 1 or GoDaddy), for e-mail traffic, you have to set or change certain entries so that e-mails sent to the configured mailboxes can be delivered from the Internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Use domain for product \u201cE-Mail Protect Pro\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like to use your domain for the \u201cE-Mail Protect Pro\u201d product, you must use DNS settings to ensure that emails are sent to the Telekom MAS Gateway (Telekom Managed Antivius\/Antispam). To do this, you must set certain MX records for your domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Determining the current MX record<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can determine the currently valid MX record for your domain in the following way:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Open the following page in the Internet:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kloth.net\/services\/nslookup.php\">http:\/\/www.kloth.net\/services\/nslookup.php<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the domain in question in the \u201cDomain\u201d field in the \u201cDNS lookup\u201d form area, in this example T-Online.de.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the record type \u201cMX (mail exchange)\u201d in the \u201cQuery\u201d drop-down field and finish by clicking on the \u201cLook it up\u201d button<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/help.telekom-cloudcenter.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Kloth-Query.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"967\" height=\"127\" src=\"https:\/\/help.telekom-cloudcenter.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Kloth-Query.png\" alt=\"kloth-query\" class=\"wp-image-109\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.telekom-cloudcenter.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Kloth-Query.png 967w, https:\/\/help.telekom-cloudcenter.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Kloth-Query-300x39.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 967px) 100vw, 967px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, the current MX-record entries for your domain will be displayed. In the example above, several mail servers are displayed for the domain T-Online.de. For each mail server, the priority used for delivering mail to the subsequently named mail server is displayed in each row after \u201cmail server =\u201d (lowest value = highest priority).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/help.telekom-cloudcenter.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Kloth-Query-Result.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"447\" height=\"214\" src=\"https:\/\/help.telekom-cloudcenter.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Kloth-Query-Result.jpg\" alt=\"kloth-query-result\" class=\"wp-image-110\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.telekom-cloudcenter.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Kloth-Query-Result.jpg 447w, https:\/\/help.telekom-cloudcenter.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Kloth-Query-Result-300x144.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 447px) 100vw, 447px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Changing an MX Record<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that <strong>different<\/strong> MX records apply to the Telekom products <strong>&#8220;Microsoft Exchange&#8221;<\/strong> and <strong>&#8220;Professional E-Mail Suite&#8221;<\/strong>. Therefore, depending on the products you have booked, only use the MX records that are valid for the respective product, as mentioned below!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The assignment\/modification of an MX record can only be instigated by the owner\/holder or technical contact (admin contact) for the domain, and this is generally a person in your organization who has the appropriate rights. The request to change the MX records must be made to the provider that manages the DNS entry for your domain. For many providers, this request can be made online via a web portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have the <strong>&#8220;Microsoft Exchange&#8221;<\/strong> product, the following MX records must be set for your domain so that mails can be delivered to recipients on the Microsoft Exchange platform:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#eb01b1\"><strong>!!! To do this, your domain, as in <a href=\"https:\/\/help.telekom-cloudcenter.de\/index.php\/domainverwaltung\/domain-verifizieren\/\">\u201cVerifying a Domain\u201d<\/a>, must be verified in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the change process, emails can be sent both to your \u201cold\u201d mailboxes and to the Microsoft\u00ae Exchange mailboxes. It is therefore advisable to continue to consult the old mailboxes in addition to the Microsoft\u00ae Exchange mailboxes during the migration phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MX (record) verification<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To check the change of MX record conversion and verify the MX record for the domain, after the changeover, click on the <strong>\u201cVerify MX\u201d<\/strong> button in the domain details and acknowledge the subsequent confirmation prompt with <strong>\u201cOK\u201d<\/strong>. There will then be an automatic check of whether the correct MX records have been entered for your domain.
